Lawrence Shankland reacts as Rangers confirm Liam Kelly transfer

Lawrence Shankland has sent a message to Liam Kelly after the new Rangers signing penned a message on Instagram expressing his excitement.

In a recent post, Kelly wrote: “Incredibly proud and happy to sign for Rangers. A club I’ve spent half my life with and it’s an amazing feeling to be back.”

Taking to the comments section, Shankland was quick to respond with two clapping emojis.

Kelly who has just come back from Euro 2024 after competing with Scotland, returns to Rangers after six years.

The 28-year-old joined the Gers at the age of 10 before rising through the academy ranks, eventually leaving in 2018.

Liam Kelly joins amid a chaotic transfer summer at Rangers

Though Rangers are preparing for the new season, there seems to be plenty of uncertainty everywhere you look behind the scenes. This tumultuous summer got off to a rough start with the sudden news of the chief executive James Bisgrove’s resignation as he heads to Saudi Arabia.

Add these losses to the potential departure of James Tavernier and the exits of John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack and Jon McLaughlin, and there is most definitely an air of change at Ibrox.

Shankland himself has long been linked with a move to Ibrox, although that now looks unlikely heading into the season with Hearts in the opening game [Chris Jack].

All of this raises serious questions about the readiness of Rangers for the coming season. The ability of the club to maintain stability both on and off the pitch is thrown into real doubt with integral people going and logistical issues yet to be resolved.

The players will soon start returning for the rigours of pre-season training, and Rangers need a fast-track resolution for these issues if they are to be better prepared for what awaits them in the Scottish Premiership.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement is under “massive pressure” to deliver this season says Kris Boyd.
