John Wenham isn’t worried about “outstanding” Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski leaving the club.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes the Swede is happy in North London.
Kulusevski has impressed with his performance during the 2024/25 campaign so far. When asked what he likes about the 24-year-old after Spurs’ 2-1 fourth-round Carabao Cup victory over Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday 30 October, Pep Guardiola responded “Everything” (via Hayters TV, 30 October).
However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – isn’t worried about big clubs taking notice of Kulusevski.
“I think he’s very happy at the club,” Wenham said.
“It’s natural that he will be attracting attention. I would say he’s been one of the top five Premier League players this season.
“He might not get the goals and assists that some others do, but anybody who watches Spurs can see how vital he is. He’s comfortably been our best player this season.
“When players are doing well, big clubs will look at them. However, I don’t think there is anything to worry about, Guardiola has name-dropped Kulusevski in the past.
“If anything, this is positive for Kulusevski and hopefully it can improve his confidence and lead to greater performances going forward because he has been outstanding this season.”
Pep Guardiola a fan of Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski
Kulusevski is slowly becoming one of Spurs’ most important players.
Therefore, Ange Postecoglou will no doubt be keen to keep hold of the player, and any transfer speculation is likely to concern him.
As reported by JuveLive (27 October), Zlatan Ibrahimovic is keen on bringing Kulusevski to AC Milan. However, any interest from City would likely pose a much bigger threat to Spurs and Postecoglou’s chances of keeping hold of Kulusevski.
As a result, Tottenham will hope that Guardiola’s comment were just polite praise, rather than an indication of anything more.
In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy is to front transfer talks for Lille midfielder Angel Gomes.
