Liverpool and Arsenal react to West Ham stance on Mohammed Kudus transfer

Liverpool and Arsenal are both currently unwilling to pay what it will take for West Ham to part with Mohammed Kudus, according to Sky Sports.

The report from the broadcaster in Switzerland also states that Kudus is apparently keen to leave the Hammers in order to achieve his potential.

Football Insider have reported the Hammers will not accept any lower than the £85million release clause in his contract which becomes active again next summer for a sale.

But with this claim that both the Merseyside and North London clubs are reluctant to pay that much for the 24-year-old any move in doubt to either now appears to be in doubt.

As things stand the Ghana international is still under contract at the London Stadium until the summer of 2028.

It feels understandable for the two Premier League clubs to be reluctant to pay this much to sign the winger right now.

There is no denying Kudus enjoyed an excellent debut season with the Hammers under David Moyes last term.

However, he has struggled to maintain that form in the current campaign as new boss Julen Lopetegui’s reign has started badly. The winger is also currently midway through a five-match ban for violent conduct following his red card against Tottenham.

All of that suggests the winger may not be a reliable signing at such a price for Liverpool and Arsenal at this moment in time.

It should also be noted that both of those clubs have currently excellent options on the right-wing, in the form of Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka respectively.

As a result, this would be a huge amount of money to pay for a player who might not even be guaranteed to start in his favoured position if he moved to one of these teams.

With that in mind, disappointing Kudus by not giving him the chance to get the move he wants could be the right stance for Liverpool and Arsenal to take here.

In other news, a fresh claim has emerged over when Trent Alexander-Arnold will decide whether or not to sign a new Liverpool contract.
