Liverpool Exclusive: Big Trent update tonight

Trent Alexander-Arnold is not expected to sign a contract extension at Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Football Insider journalist Connor Humm revealed he can “definitely see” the right-back joining Real Madrid next year.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the 26-year-old is increasingly likely to join the La Liga giants instead of re-signing with Liverpool.

Alexander-Arnold’s Anfield deal expires at the end of the season, but the Reds could look to cut their losses and sell him as soon as January in a bid to get a fee for him.

Football Insider previously revealed that there is a “very strong possibility” a deal with Real Madrid goes ahead for the right-back, which would see him depart the Merseyside giants for the first time in his career.

Alexander-Arnold has made 321 first-team appearances throughout his career at the club, scoring 19 goals and providing 83 assists.

Liverpool’s desire remains for the defender to commit his long-term future to the club, but he will be able to start communicating with foreign teams from January.

Football Insider revealed that Alexander-Arnold’s England teammate Jude Bellingham is expected to have a big role in convincing him to move to Spain due to their connection.

Talks have been ongoing between the player and Liverpool over a new deal, and Football Insider confirmed that his party have not had any communication with other clubs.

However, Alexander-Arnold is not the only star player at Liverpool who is out of contract at the end of this season.

Arne Slot will have to fight to try and keep Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk at the club as well due to their own deals expiring.
