Liverpool fans thrilled by Anthony Gordon update as he says 'yes' to move

Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has revealed which ex-Premier League player is his hero and it has Liverpool fans talking.

Liverpool have been working on a deal to bring the 23-year-old to Anfield but talks at the end of June collapsed after Newcastle found other avenues to help with their PSR situation.

The deal being discussed between the Merseyside giants and the north-east involved a cash-plus-player exchange but an agreement could not be secured.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Liverpool still hold an interest in Gordon. Providing an update on the situation, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano said, as per DaveOCKOP:

“Internally Liverpool are discussing the situation of Anthony Gordon in case they do something in offensive positions. Gordon gave green light to the move in June.”

The Premier League giants are the only club remaining in Europe’s top five leagues who haven’t made a new signing this transfer window.

With Klopp no longer at the club, it’s going to be a period of transition at Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot and fans are starting to get restless about the lack of business.

Many are calling for current owners FSG to sell the club if they’re unwilling to invest so signing a player like Gordon will likely ease the pressure.

The 23-year-old was asked by Fubo: “Who was your idol growing up?” He replied: “Steven Gerrard”.

Gordon was then asked to name the best player he had played against.

He said: “I’d say directly against I would like (Achraf) Hakimi for Paris Saint Germain, he was definitely the best right-back.

“But, on the pitch, I’ll probably say Mo Salah.”

However, when the ex-Everton man was asked who was better between Gerrard and Frank Lampard he said Lampard.
