Man United have earned a record turnover during the most recent financial year.
That is the view of financial expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that is hasn’t been a disastrous period for the club from a financial perspective.
The 20-time champions posted a loss of more than £110million in their latest financial results, but they have still managed to make a positive turnover due to some of the business decisions that have been made.
The Premier League giants saved £10million annually after they controversially made 250 members of staff redundant.
The club have managed to remain compliant with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations, which ensure they don’t suffer any points reductions.
United’s owners pumped money into the team this summer, spending more than £180million on five summer signings.
Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, and Noussair Mazraoui all joined the squad as the owners looked to back Erik ten Hag.
Man United have managed to reduce their wage bill
“In actual fact, this was a record turnover year for them,” Borson told Football Insider.
“So not disastrous from a hotline perspective.
“They do have some exceptional costs in the year, the strategic review costs so they would come out straight away.
“The general direction of travel, they claim, is to reduce costs by £40-45million per year on the back of this redundancy rationalisation process that they’ve been going through.
“The numbers don’t seem to make sense given that it was 250 people, but that’s one side.
“They do suggest that they’re bringing down their overall wage bill quite considerably.”
