Manchester City pushing to sign £50m attacker Arsenal want by Tuesday - journalist

Manchester City are closing in on the signing of a rumoured Arsenal target, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Arsenal have been tracking a number of players at Euro 2024 and are close to agreeing a deal to sign Riccardo Calafiori.

Spain’s jet-heeled winger Nico Williams is another name on their shortlist and so too is Mikel Merino, who has been personally contacted by Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners have also been linked with another Spanish player but it seems title-winners Manchester City have stolen a march on his signature.

Manchester City want to sign Dani Olmo by Tuesday

Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio took to X on Sunday reporting that Manchester City are pushing to sign Spain and RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo by Tuesday.

Olmo’s £50m release clause expires on July 20, as reported by TBR earlier this week, though, Di Marzio’s information says otherwise, with the clause set to expire on July 15th.

Either way, it’s evident that any forthcoming suitors will have to wrap up a deal imminently and City are doing just that.

The 26-year-old has flourished at the tournament and could win the Golden Boot this evening having netted three times whilst laying on two assists.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest but City are in pole position and look set to beat the two North London clubs to his signature.

Arsenal remain in the race

Arsenal could yet make a late move for the Spanish playmaker as they’d just need to match City’s offer.

At this stage, there has been no indication from the player’s side of a preferred destination, so Arteta could still convince him to make the move to the Emirates Stadium.
