Manchester United star’s future in doubt after missing out on squad to face Fulham
Is he about to leave?
Jadon Sancho is not in Manchester United’s squad to face Fulham in the opening game of the Premier League season, pouring more doubt on his future at the club.
The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, but he has returned to the club and been involved in pre-season.
The 24-year-old played in friendly fixtures and came off the bench in Saturday’s Community Shield, although he missed his penalty in the shootout against Manchester City.
Erik ten Hag spoke positively about the winger, suggesting the falling out they had last season is behind them and they are moving forward.
‘We spoke well,’ Ten Hag told AD Sportwereld last month. ‘Everyone can make a mistake. If the player reflects on this well, you draw a line and move on.
‘This club needs good players, and one thing is certain: Jadon Sancho is a very good player. I hope that we will still click and that he will contribute to our success.’
However, Sancho is not even on the bench as Manchester United welcome Fulham to Old Trafford on Friday night.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Sancho’s ‘future remains open’ and he could still leave before the transfer window closes.
Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Sancho and spoke to his representatives earlier this summer, but did not make a bid.
Romano reports that the French club is not the only interested party in Sancho, although the clubs are already in talks over a United move for Manuel Ugarte.
Ten Hag has fielded a back four of Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui in front of Andre Onana against Fulham.
Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo are in midfield with Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes, with Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford out wide.
