‘More advanced’: £60m player is closer to joining Tottenham than Man City - journalist

Tottenham Hotspur have beat some big clubs to big signings in recent times.

Spurs beat Bayern Munich to the signing of Radu Dragusin in the January transfer window, while they also pinched Lucas Bergvall from Barcelona later this month.

Tottenham are now set to go head to head with Manchester City over a signing this summer.

Indeed, both Spurs and City are said to be keen on Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, and according to Alex Crook, speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Spurs are more advanced than City on this front as things stand.

Tottenham more advanced in Eberechi Eze race

Crook shared what he knows about the £60m man.

“They’re keen on Eze as well. I reported that on the transfer notebook a few weeks ago. Tottenham’s interest in genuine, but they need to shift players on,” Crook said.

“I would say that Tottenham’s interest is more advanced (than City’s) in terms of this summer. With City it would depend on De Bruyne leaving and we don’t think that will happen this summer, probably more likely next.”

Eze race could change quickly

Tottenham are ahead of Man City in the race to sign Eze right now, but things could change in an instant.

With a release clause in place in Eze’s contract, the attacking midfielder is available at a moment’s notice this summer, and if City ultimately do decide they’re going for him, it won’t take them long to skip the queue.

Tottenham’s best bet is to hurry up and beat other teams to the punch while they deliberate. After all, Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Eze in this transfer window.

The Crystal Palace star looks like he could be on the move this summer, and Spurs may want to hurry up if they’re planning on getting this deal done.
