Moshiri now in talks with 'most controversial' Everton takeover candidate - report

A-Cap are reportedly in serious contention to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s controlling stake in Everton despite links to 777 Partners, according to The Telegraph.

Tom Morgan’s article [12 June] explains that A-Cap chief executive Kenneth King is in active talks with Moshiri, having already helped fund 777’s injection of cash towards the club – with King “fiercely motivated” to secure an agreement with funds already tied up in Everton.

A-Cap has been branded by Morgan as “by far the most controversial” potential buyer of Moshiri’s majority holding, given their exposure to 777 – whose proposed takeover was blocked by the Premier League for eight months of the 2023-24 season, eventually suffering collapse amid legal controversy.

A-Cap determined as Farhad Moshiri assesses Everton options

Certainly not many are envying the decision Moshiri has to make at Goodison Park – but neither do Everton supporters expect him to delay his call too much longer.

This protracted takeover situation has quite simply dragged on for too long, even putting the club’s very existence under threat – and that is not being hyperbolic.

A-Cap’s links to 777 Partners do drop a curveball into the mix, though King is aiming to iron out any reservations had by the Everton hierarchy – Moshiri himself maintains a close relationship with 777 and offered the company far more time than should have been the case.

The ownership saga continues at Everton

Elsewhere, Roma owner Dan Friedkin remains interested, whilst Andy Bell and George Downing are intent on thrashing out a deal, with Bell recently investing millions into his founder company, Toffee Ventures.

Blues fans will be tentative about the potential of an A-Cap ownership, though the vast majority will be eager for this protracted saga to edge closer to a conclusion at the same time.
