John Wenham has urged Daniel Levy to accept a “huge financial loss” on Tottenham star Richarlison.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose wants to see the striker sold in January.
Richarlison has played just 25 minutes of football for Tottenham this season, with the striker currently sidelined due to an injury issue, and expected to be out for quite some time.
As a result, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the club need to move on from the Brazillian, despite his obvious talent.
“It was time to cut ties with him in the summer, he’s never available,” Wenham said.
“It’s very frustrating because when he is fit, he has shown that he can make a massive contribution.
“We need him, but he’s just not there for us and he can’t be relied upon. Therefore, he must be sold in January. Something will have to be done to try and encourage him to leave.
“Levy needs to accept the huge financial loss. We cannot keep going with this situation.”
Daniel Levy to sanction sale of Tottenham striker Richarlison in January?
Richarlison has struggled ever since arriving at Tottenham from Everton. Apart from a hot goalscoring streak during the middle of last season, which saw him end the campaign with 11 league goals, the 27-year-old hasn’t done anything of note.
In total, he has scored just 15 goals and provided eight assists for the club in 68 appearances across two years. Therefore, considering the money paid for him, most fans would likely accept the transfer has been a failure.
It looks as if injury issues are continuing to plague him this season. As a result, now might finally be the time to cut ties.
Dominic Solanke seems to have settled in well, although Ange Postecoglou will have some concerns after a recent announcement.
Therefore, with a new number-nine in town, keeping hold of another big-money striker who isn’t contributing just doesn’t make logistical sense anymore.
In other Tottenham news, a door has opened at the club for Mikey Moore after a “frustrating” injury update.
