Tam McManus has slammed Rangers’ decision to leave Hibernian fans waiting for ticketing information ahead of their clash on Sunday (29 September).
The Gers have returned to Ibrox following the redevelopment setbacks at the stadium, though parts of the ground are still shut ahead of their next home game.
While the club are aiming to have the stadium fully operational for the Scottish Premiership clash, Hibs fans have now been left in the dark as a reduced allocation for the away fans becomes a reality [Daily Record].
Writing via the Daily Record on Wednesday (25 September), McManus said: “It seems a bit offside to leave Hibs fans hanging over tickets to Ibrox with Sunday’s game just a few days away.
“Mind you, given the struggles over there in recent times, perhaps some punters might see being shut out as a bonus. They shouldn’t, though. You never know what can happen… and it’s about time Hibs got a result in Glasgow.”
Ibrox issues continue to trouble Rangers ahead of Hibernian clash
Of course, it is understandable to see the frustration over a lack of information with the game just four days away, but there is little the club can do.
There is no understating just how important the return to Ibrox is for Philippe Clement’s men, who need the backing of the fans more than ever right now.
Despite winning four of their last five games in all competitions, Clement is facing pressure due to the Old Firm defeat and being knocked out of Champions League qualifying.
With European competition in mind, the Belgian still has a chance to get the fans onside, with a Europa League clash against Malmo on Thursday 26 September, and Lyon to follow.
Clement will be entirely focused on the Malmo fixture first, but this ticketing saga ahead of the Hibernian clash is far from ideal. The Gers have learned exactly what a stadium without one set of fans can be like.
In other Rangers news, Tom English has called out John Gilligan after what he has done already at Ibrox, “What was the point?”.
