'Well done Tottenham' - King hails Spurs U-turn after ex-employee controversy

Bryan King has praised Tottenham for agreeing to assist former employee David Pleat in the selling of his memoir.

The ex-Spurs scout claims the club have managed to turn a negative incident into positive publicity.

Part of the profits from Pleat’s memoir are set to be donated to charities seeking a cure for motor neurone disease. However, Spurs weren’t originally set to assist in the selling of the book.

Pleat told the Telegraph (10 September), “They’re (Tottenham) not selling it there (the club shop), something to do with it not being through the club’s official publisher”.

However, as per Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust Chair Martin Buhagiar on X (14 September), the club have made a U-turn and will now be supporting Pleat.

As a result, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has praised the North London side for doing the right thing.

“It sounds as though this is positive publicity now,” King said.

“Therefore, they have taken the negative to produce a positive. If we look at the situation, I’d imagine the room has been agreed upon and Spurs will assist in selling the book and the charities will prosper.

“Well done Pleat and well done Tottenham.”

Tottenham set to support David Pleat

It is good to see that Spurs are doing the right thing by supporting Pleat. However, it is a shame that it took the former employee criticising Daniel Levy for the Spurs chairman to act.

This is something which the club should have been doing from the beginning. Therefore, it feels as though Spurs agreeing to help Pleat is more of a PR opportunity.

As a result, Levy is unlikely to have gained any more fans in North London.

In other Tottenham news, Ange Postecoglou is likely to have words with one player after what he did in the win against Brentford on Saturday 21 September.
