Pundit View: Tottenham may have finally found Harry Kane replacement on one condition

Paul Robinson believes Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri could finally fill the void left by Harry Kane at Tottenham, but only on one condition.

According to Vamos Mi Sevilla [6 June], Spurs are in advanced talks to sign the La Liga striker this summer, with Sevilla setting a £21.2million price tag.

While the Moroccan has impressed in La Liga, the Europa League, and also on the international stage, Robinson only wants to see Spurs sign him if they are unable to get Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “Ivan Toney would be my first choice, but En-Nesyri would come in as a No.9 that Spurs haven’t had since Harry Kane left.

He’s a player I would be happy to see come into the club.”

Tottenham to target Youssef En-Nesyri as Ivan Toney alternative

Spurs have been attempting to fill Kane’s shoes since his move to Bayern Munich last summer, which has failed to come to fruition with Son Heung-Min, Timo Werner and Richarlison able to deputise as a striker.

Toney has been heavily linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having notched 72 goals in 141 appearances for the Bees, though he has experienced his fair share of criticism following a betting ban.

As an alternative to the 28-year-old, En-Nesyri is certainly not a bad option and must be seriously considered by Ange Postecoglou this summer.

Due to Sevilla’s current financial issues, they have no choice but to let players go this summer, and with En-Nesyri’s talent and potential price tag, he is on the chopping block after four years at the club.

Tottenham are still trying to replace Harry Kane

Spurs could benefit from this as they continue to search for a new striker option, still needing to replace Kane, though some are concerned about his lack of Premier League experience.

Considering this, Robinson’s preference for Toney makes perfect sense heading into the summer transfer window, but the two players would offer very different profiles for the squad.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs are set to avoid the signing of Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke after his release clause emerged.
