Four Lads moots another Rangers transfer after Barron as duo tipped to depart Ibrox

Stevie Clifford has urged Rangers to sign another player alongside Connor Barron, with Kieran Dowell and Tom Lawrence’s future uncertain.

According to Chris Jack [18 June], the Gers have won the race to sign the Aberdeen midfielder, fending off competition from Italy and England to secure his services.

Barron looks likely to become the fourth signing of the summer at Ibrox, with the club working hard to complete a deal before pre-season (24 June).

While this is good news for Rangers, the Four Lads Had A Dream host believes Philippe Clement needs another, with a return to England for Dowell on the cards, as per Chris Jack, and Lawrence wanting to join Besiktas [Fanatik].

Speaking via the Rangers Review YouTube channel on Wednesday (19 June), Clifford said: “Connor Barron, for me, is someone that ticks all the boxes.

“There are a lot of clips from Aberdeen – he loves an early long ball and can fire that up to Miovski, who is quick, pacey and strong. We’ve maybe not got that at Rangers at the minute.

“This is an interesting one for me. It’s one that I want, one that I’m really happy about, and the potential of him joining is just a really smart move, especially in midfield.

“Once Lundstram and Jack are gone, the futures of Dowell and Lawrence are still up in the air. I’ll be really surprised if they remain here past the summer, so we need Connor Barron plus a real No.6.”

The summer rebuild at Ibrox is well and truly underway, with several players already departing and Barron about to join Jefte, Oscar Cortes and Clinton Nsiala in putting pen to paper on a deal.

This is unlikely to be the last action of the summer for Rangers, with the transfer window having only just opened and multiple players being linked with exits too.

Lundstram and Jack have run down their contracts, seeing them leave the club as free agents, which has freed up space in midfielder for Clement to bring in players of his own.

This is not an easy task, considering the Gers transfer budget, but the manager and Nils Koppen are clearly making it work as they near their fourth signing of the summer.

While Barron is an exciting addition, fans will be worried about the lack of depth still in midfield, which must be addressed this summer, as Clifford illudes to.
