Rangers could accept offer 'too good to turn down' for exit-linked defender - report

Rangers could be tempted to accept an offer for Ridvan Yilmaz, according to the Rangers Review.

It was reported by the news outlet online (13 June) that the Gers are not actively seeking to sell the left-back to fund any transfers this summer.

However, circumstances could change if the right offer arrives.

Like every player at the club, Yilmaz has a price, and while Philippe Clement is planning for life with the 23-year-old, that could change if the club receives an offer “deemed too good to turn down”.

Philippe Clement will be keen to keep hold of Ridvan Yilmaz at Rangers

Clement will hope to keep hold of Yilmaz this summer.

The defender impressed under the Belgian up until March when an injury ruled him out of action. The Gers’ downturn in form across April and May is telling of Yilmaz’s impact on the team.

He has suffered consistently with injuries across his two seasons at the club, although the Rangers Review write that the Gers are confident of those issues being addressed during pre-season.

After the arrival of Jefte, keeping hold of Yilmaz would mean the club have two very good options at left-back.

That depth could perhaps prove key next season as Clement’s side look to wrestle the Scottish Premiership from Celtic’s grasp.

There has been speculation that Yilmaz could leave the club, with Turkish outlet Sabah reporting (10 June) that Besiktas have made an approach to re-sign the player.

However, Necdet Ergezen – Yilmaz’s agent – told Gokmen Ozcan (10 June) that the player currently has no plans to return to Turkey, which suggests he would be open to staying at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, one player is flying in for transfer talks with a medical on the cards.
