Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie could join Kilmarnock in the next 24 to 48 hours, according to Sky Sports.

The online source has reported on its live blog [9 July, 12:00 pm) that the 26-year-old is set to return from the Gers’ training camp in the Netherlands ahead of a proposed move to Killie.

It is understood that McCrorie informed the Ibrox side he wanted to depart the club in search of more minutes on the pitch, and is now set to sign a two-year deal with the Scottish Premiership side.

Robby McCrorie set to leave Rangers as Kilmarnock move looms

While there are no doubts over his ability, he has failed to break through into the first-team setup on regular occasions, usually being forced out on loan.

He has experienced loan spells away with Berwick Rangers, Greenock Morton, Queen of South and Livingston since 2015, gaining some opportunities away from Ibrox.

However, his development still seems to be stalling, and with signs of becoming a first-choice under Philippe Clement, especially with the addition of Liam Kelly, the move makes sense for all parties.

McCrorie has just seven senior appearances to his name with Rangers despite being at the club for close to a decade, never really being allowed to prove himself.

With Jack Butland in goal for the past season, it is understandable why the 26-year-old has been frustrated with a lack of minutes on the pitch and why he is on the search for a new chapter of his journey.

Robby McCrorie looks set to leave Rangers this summer

Ibrox is undergoing many changes this summer, with Clement already adding Hamza Igamane, Connor Barron Clinton Nsiala and Jefte joining the squad, and Oscar Cortes re-signing on loan.

McCrorie has seen the rebuild as a way out of the club, which is understandable and respectable, with the shot-stopper still having so much to prove on the pitch.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement already has a Ryan Jack replacement as Ibrox rebuild continues.
