Chris Jack shares what he has heard about summer transfer for exit-linked Rangers attacker

Rangers attacker Sam Lammers has attracted interest from “a couple” of Eredivisie clubs and will move back to the Netherlands, according to Chris Jack.

Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (9 July, 15:40) Jack admitted he would be “surprised” to see the exit-linked forward complete a move to Spain or Italy during the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old has been relegated to the Light Blues’ B Team during pre-season as Philippe Clement and the Gers are “desperate” to move him on following his loan spell during the second half of last season [Stevie Clifford, 8 July].

Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel, Jack said: “He will move back to Holland, I think that is the ideal league for him.

“I understand there are a couple of Eredivisie sides that are interested in him so I would be surprised if we saw him move on to Spain or back to Italy.

“He’s had experiences in different leagues around Europe and obviously the Rangers one was a really tough experience for him.”

It does seem like a move back to the Netherlands would be the ideal fit for all parties involved in this deal. Lammers would return to a league he has impressed in, the Gers would pocket a reasonable fee and the new side would get a striker in excellent form.

However, everyone knows that the Light Blues are eager to get the Dutchman off of their books ahead of the new season and while that publicity may help drum up interest, it can harm Rangers’ negotiating position.

Hopefully, one of the Eredivisie sides in the race for his signature will come forward with a genuine offer sooner rather than later. If it comes close to the Gers’ valuation, you’d imagine it would be an incredibly easy deal to get over the line.

With a move to Spain or Italy unlikely to be completed in the coming weeks, it seems that competition isn’t exactly rife for Lammers’ services. Rangers simply have to learn from this mistake and not repeat it in the future under Clement.
