Rangers fans land 'huge boost' as Ibrox return is confirmed

Rangers are set to play their first home game of the season at Ibrox when they face Dundee FC in the Scottish League Cup later this month.

The Glasgow side were forced to play their first four home games of the season—against Motherwell, Dynamo Kyiv, St Johnstone, and Ross County—at Hampden due to delays in the arrival of materials from Asia, which postponed renovations on their Copland Stand.

The famous Copland Stand will remain closed for an unspecified period of time while “final concourse and seating works are ongoing”.

In mid-July, it was announced that Philippe Clement’s side would play at the national stadium until the situation was resolved.

Early reports indicated they might not return to their home ground until October but the club have since decided to re-open the doors in what is a huge boost for supporters.

Rangers return to Ibrox is a huge boost to the club’s supporters

It’s been an underwhelming start to the season so far for Rangers, a 3-0 defeat to Celtic on Sunday has left them five points behind their arch-rivals in the Scottish Premier League.

Fans will welcome the chance to return home in a move that they hope will kick-start their season.

A statement from the club on Tuesday said, “Rangers Football Club today confirms our Premier Sports Cup tie with Dundee on Saturday, 21 September, will be played at Ibrox Stadium.

“Excluding the Copland Stand, where final concourse and seating works are ongoing, all areas of our home will be open for this match.”

First, Rangers are set for an away fixture against Dundee United on September 15th once the international break is over.

They might be without in-form winger Rabbi Matondo who had to withdraw from the Wales squad for the Nations League double-header against Turkey and Montenegro due to a hamstring injury.

In other news, Oli McBurnie ‘100%’ wants to join Rangers after extensive ‘talks’ over deal.
