Rangers fans rage at James Tavernier's Instagram post - 'embarrassing'

Rangers supporters have slammed captain James Tavernier on social media after a post he shared over the weekend.

A video was posted on Instagram from Tavernier’s account on 22 June illustrating the skipper’s season highlights – the Light Blues lost out in both the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup final to Celtic, albeit claiming the League Cup.

Football Insider reported on 16 June that a large section of Rangers fans supported the sale of Tavernier this summer as Philippe Clement oversees wholesale changes to his squad this summer – the right-back has been linked with a reunion with Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.

Tavernier was handed the armband by Gerrard six years ago, and has now been at Ibrox for nine seasons.

The 32-year-old has two years remaining on his current Gers contract.

Rangers fans took to X to express their fury at Tavernier, whose comments were turned off on the Instagram post.
