'Role model' - Doctor reacts as Everton news emerges on player with 400+ PL appearances

Everton defender Ashley Young must be given credit for keeping himself fit at the age of 38, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that for him to play a demanding full-back role at that age takes some doing and the reason Sean Dyche wants him to stay at the club is because he’s a role model for the younger players.

This comes after the Toffees confirmed the news on 25 June that he has penned a one-year extension at the club.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Young: “Young is 38 and is handed a new contract and it remains to be seen if he plays most of the first-team games next season.

The potential upside is that it limits the risk while still allowing him to contribute on and off the pitch.

He’s certainly a role model when it comes to taking care of yourself and how that can lead to an extended career.

“I must also give him credit for keeping himself in such good shape to play as a full-back at that age.

Everton kept Ashley Young on for a plethora of reasons

At 38, Young, who’s played over 400 Premier League games, made 31 league appearances and he would’ve made more as well but Dyche opted to keep him on the bench.

His ability to play in multiple positions, including full-back, left wing and midfield, provides crucial depth and flexibility.

Moreover, the Englishman’s experience in the Premier League and international football is invaluable for a team like the Toffees.

His signing of a one-year contract extension until June 2025 shows the confidence in his abilities and the role he plays in the squad.

In other Everton news, Alan Myers claims that the club will announce a new signing in July and not before the end of June.
