Rangers in advanced talks over behind-the-scenes agreement - Chris Jack

Rangers are in advanced talks to play at Hampden Park while Ibrox works continue, according to Chris Jack.

Writing via the Rangers Review (10 July), Jack reported that an announcement is expected in the coming days.

The Gers will start the 2024/25 season away from Ibrox due to lengthy redevelopment delays at the stadium (via Rangers Review, 20 June).

This is far from an ideal scenario for the club.

However, while nothing can beat the atmosphere of 50,000-plus Rangers supporters filling into Ibrox, Hampden Park is probably the next best alternative.

The Scotland national stadium can also accommodate 50,000-plus fans, and the club’s players will have plenty of experience of playing at the ground.

As the Gers prepare to get their Scottish Premiership and UEFA Champions League campaigns started away from Ibrox, Hampden Park isn’t a bad venue to call a temporary home.

What is most important is that there now seems to be a plan in place.

For weeks supporters have been left in the dark about where the club will be playing their opening matches and they will therefore just be relieved that some clarity has been provided.

It isn’t Ibrox, but the fans will no doubt be able to create a fierce atmosphere in Hampden Park as the Gers look to get off to the best possible start.
