Rangers have paid an eight-figure transfer fee with bonuses included in the value to bring in Hamza Igamane, according to Sebastien Denis.

The Foot Mercato journalist reported via X on 5 July, after the Light Blues confirmed the striker as their seventh signing of the transfer window, that the Moroccan has cost around €2million [£1.69m], with potential add-ons on top of the up-front fee.

According to The 4th Official via Patreon on 2 July the highly-rated young forward has a long-term deal of four seasons, with an option for a fifth, at Ibrox.

Igamane is the first striker brought in by Nils Koppen and Philippe Clement this summer, and joins Mohamed Diomande, whose loan has been made permanent, Jefte, Oscar Cortes, Clinton Nsiala, Connor Barron and Liam Kelly.

Fans have been waiting for more action to be taken to address a Gers attack which ran out of steam last season with little firepower left fit outside of the inconsistent Cyriel Dessers by the end of the campaign.

Igamane is young and untested outside of his home country so how much of an immediate impact he will make for Clement remains to be seen.

A headline option up front will likely be needed still, despite the return from injury of Danilo, especially as Cyriel Dessers appears to be heading for a transfer exit [Rangers Review, 3 July], on top of the altogether less effective Sam Lammers [Rangers Review, 29 May].

There have been some positive recent suggestions that last term’s top attacking threat Abdallah Sima might be possible to re-sign from Brighton, but amid links to the likes of Bojan Miovski at Aberdeen and Hearts star Lawrence Shankland [Scottish Daily Mail, 1 July] it might be sensible to pair a proven Scottish Premiership scorer with the emerging talent Igamane.

Rangers have wrapped up their latest signing in Hamza Igamane.

That would also fit with the indication from Clement that he will be looking to add more experience in the market this summer after focusing on younger talents so far [BBC Sport, 29 June].

Arrivals at Ibrox are gradually mounting up but it still feels like there is work to do, and with John Bennett having assured the manager there is money to spend [Daily Record, 14 June] it appears relatively little has been committed to the latest deal.

In other Rangers news, a Todd Cantwell exit update has emerged after a clash with a fan online.
