Rangers star 'considers his options' for Ibrox exit - Chris Jack

Cyriel Dessers is considering his options ahead of a potential Rangers exit this summer, according to Chris Jack.

Writing on the Rangers Review website (3 July), the journalist reports that several clubs from four countries are interested in the Nigeria international with the Ibrox club open to a sale if they can recoup the £4.5million they spent to sign him a year ago.

Dessers scored 22 goals in his debut campaign at Ibrox but has come under huge scrutiny at different points and could now look to move on should any interest be made concrete.

Dessers is one of the most divisive players in recent memory at Ibrox, with many failing to be able to look past his huge misses despite 22 goals.

But Philippe Clement showed a preference to use the 29-year-old regularly after taking over at the club, allowing Sam Lammers to leave and preferring to use Fabio Silva as a winger while he led the line.

However, it still feels like the club and manager would be open to allowing Dessers to leave the club if they received a good offer as it would help them to bankroll a move for a new, more prolific striker [Football Scotland, 25 June] for the 2024/25 season.

Lawrence Shankland is someone whose name has been a permanent fixture in the rumour mill in recent transfer windows and it could be a deal that becomes available to do later in the window once Hearts make a decision.

It would be the swap that every fan wants to see and Clement would clearly be very happy with the deal too, so it’s one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
