Rangers to pay fee after Ibrox delay 'Shambles' - Chris Jack

Rangers will pay a fee to whoever agrees to host them while Ibrox is unavailable at the start of the season, according to Chris Jack.

Writing on the Rangers Review website (20 June), the journalist reports that the club are willing to pay up with Hampden unavailable until the first week of September [Andy Newport, 20 June] due to the pitch being relayed after concerts.

An agreement will need to be found on hospitality revenue and nothing has been signed with anyone yet, but it’s possible that Murrayfield could become a more familiar trip for fans in August.

Rangers to miss out on Ibrox revenue after huge stadium issue

The club have committed to improving the disabled section in the Copland Road Stand, but it’s ridiculous that it now means the whole stadium is unavailable for the start of the season. It’s no wonder Jack called it a “shambles”.

With “huge” Champions League games set to take place as well as the SPFL season beginning and a potential home draw in the Scottish League Cup, the club face missing out on big sums of revenue from home games.

It’s a huge blow for the club who needs all the commercial success they can get to try and close the gap on Celtic, and losing home advantage for their Champions League qualifiers will only make that more difficult.

Rangers will be seeking transfer reinforcements this summer

The fan reaction has been hugely negative and it’s no surprise at this stage, so the club must do everything they can to ensure fans aren’t even more compromised by whatever the solution is that they find.

Without the fans, Rangers would be nothing so they must be considered properly in whatever decision gets made, but no Ibrox for at least a month is a huge concern.

In other Rangers news, the club will listen to offers for Todd Cantwell this summer.
