Rangers transfer round-up: Austria int'l linked as Johnson twist emerges

Rangers continue to be active in the summer transfer window as yet more players are linked with a switch to Ibrox.

The Gers have already got two new faces through the door in Clinton Nsiala and Jefte, from Milan and Fluminense respectively, while Oscar Cortes’ loan deal has been made permanent.

Many others have departed, however, meaning far more incoming activity is likely prior to the start of the new season.

Ibrox News has all bases covered with a round-up of the top transfer stories from Tuesday (11 June).

Expert blown away by Gers interest in Damian Garcia

South American football journalist Nathan Joyes has branded the possibility of Rangers signing Damian Garcia as one to be “very impressed” by.

In a post on X [11 June], Joyes talked up what would appear to be a transfer coup for Philippe Clement, who is looking to reassemble his squad throughout the summer window.

Midfielder Garcia is currently with hometown club Penarol in Uruguay, as the Gers look to complete a deal to bring him to Scotland [Football Scotland].

Joyes said of the potential deal: “Must admit, I’m very impressed if Rangers manage to get this one over the line.

“A leader with a strong mentality yet also great on the ball. The ideal no.6.”

Ben Johnson contract twist emerges at West Ham United

West Ham United have offered Ben Johnson another last-ditch contract offer amid interest from Rangers in the exit-bound defender, according to The Athletic.

The outlet reported via their website on 11 June that the Hammers have put five-year deal on improved terms on the table to prevent the versatile defender from leaving the club at the end of the month on a free transfer, and he is said to be considering “all his options”.

The Light Blues are one of a number of clubs who have been credited with an interest in signing the 24-year-old if he becomes available, amid uncertainty over captain and long-term starter at right-back James Tavernier.

Two former Ibrox bosses are interested in signing the Light Blues star, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst wanting him at new club Besiktas [Sozcu, 9 June] and Steven Gerrard long-thought to be after a reunion at Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League [Daily Record, 24 May].

Rangers eager to finalise Yusuf Kabadayi transfer in new update

Rangers are looking to complete a deal with Bayern Munich to sign Yusuf Kabadayi urgently this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

An initial loan was discussed but it has now been reported by the online outlet (11 June) that the Bundesliga giants would let him go for “a shade under £1m”.

The Gers are now “eager to conclude a deal” as they look to make the 20-year-old their second signing ahead of the transfer window opening.

With Philippe Clement taking charge of his first full season there is “an urgency to get signings completed”, with the German said to be one of those.

Rangers receive Albion Rrahmani transfer update as bids now on table

Rapid Bucharest sporting director Daniel Sandu has revealed that “good offers” have been made for Rangers transfer target Albion Rrahmani.

The Gers have been tracking Rrahmani this summer, with Nils Koppen reportedly meeting the player’s representatives over a possible move.

However, it appears Rangers are not the only club interested in the Kosovo international.

Speaking to Sport Romania (11 June), Sandu said: “Rrahmani will be at training tomorrow. I don’t know if he’s leaving.

“The transfer window opens in June. It lasts until September. [There’s] time for all kinds of moves.

“I expect more players from Rapid to leave. There are good offers for [Rrahmani].”

Rangers want to seal Flavius Daniliuc transfer as Sky share update

Flavius Daniliuc is “in the sights” of Rangers with the club looking to sign the Salernitana defender this summer, according to Sky Sports Austria.

Florian Plettenberg reported that the Gers are interested in bringing the 23-year-old to Ibrox, following his loan spell at Red Bull Salzburg during the second half of last season.

Capable of playing both centre-half and right-back, Daniliuc is under contract with Salernitana until 2026, although RB Salzburg does have the option to buy the Austrian international following his loan.

Daniliuc reportedly has a market value of roughly £5million and featured on 12 occasions for Salzburg from January onwards, with Rangers waiting to see if Die Roten Bullen will sign him permanently.

In other Rangers news, the Light Blues have secured another new signing already this summer as an ace has posted an exit message online.
