Rangers are set to begin their 2024/25 campaign away from Ibrox due to lengthy redevelopment setbacks at the stadium, according to Chris Jack.

The journalist reported via Rangers Review [20 June] that work on the Copland Stand is set to be delayed, which will have a telling impact on the Gers’ opening to next season.

It is understood that the board are currently exploring contingency plans to play Champions League and Scottish Premiership matches at an alternative venue.

With a couple of months still until Rangers begin their 2024/25 campaign, this will not be positive news to anyone surrounding the club heading into next season.

While Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen are working hard to rebuild the current squad and draw players to Ibrox, the current issues at the stadium are already spelling disaster.

It is, of course, not the end of the world if the Gers need to play their football at a different venue for a few matches at the start of the season, but it will be a crying shame.

The Ibrox crowd is famous for the atmosphere it creates at home matches, which could be vital for any of their first few home matches, either in domestic competitions or in Europe.

The first few matches of the season could set a precedent for the rest of the season and help kick the team on to a title-winning campaign, though that has now been halted due to these problems.
