Journalist: Rangers make contact with UEFA after Ibrox debacle

Rangers have already made contact with UEFA to inform them of a venue change requirement after issues with works at Ibrox, according to Andy Newport.

Writing on his personal X account (20 June), the Daily Record journalist reports that the Light Blues won’t be able to play at Ibrox at the start of the season after work on the Copland Stand was delayed.

The Bears now face having to play their home games at the start of the season away from the iconic ground, with “Huge” Champions League qualification games to come.

Rangers can’t play home games at Ibrox

It’s outrageous that Rangers won’t be able to play their home games at Ibrox for the first month of the season, and the club should be well aware of fan frustrations.

The work on the Copeland Stand is necessary and things go wrong all the time, but it’s wrong that fans now must suffer by being forced to potentially travel to Edinburgh [Andy Newport, 20 June] to watch Glasgow Rangers fulfil a home game.

With Champions League qualification so important to the club too, having no real home advantage in either of their two possible ties could be catastrophic.

There’s no doubt that Philippe Clement will make no excuses and will be expecting a performance no matter what stadium the game is in, but Ibrox has the reputation it has for a reason.

It puts the team at a major disadvantage to start the season and whoever is responsible for the delays should be swiftly punished by those in charge.

In other Rangers news, the club are set to seal a brand new transfer after talks with Clement and Koppen.
