'Ready to move on' - Chris Jack: Rangers wondergoal scorer could leave

There are “doubts” over Rabbi Matondo’s future at Rangers heading into the summer transfer window at Ibrox, according to Chris Jack.

The Welshman has impressed under Philippe Clement when fit this season, but his campaign has been disrupted by injury and fitness issues that limited him to only seven starts in the Premiership.

Clement is expected to add to his squad this summer, with a number of wingers being linked with a move to Glasgow already and Rangers Review journalist Jack suggests both Matondo and Scott Wright could be sold.

Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (10 June, 13:00) he said: “I’m not surprised Rangers are being linked with these types of players and they will go out strengthen in these areas of the pitch.

“If you look at the way the manager wants to play, they need more of these types of players. There are probably doubts over Scott Wright’s future and there are potential doubts over Rabbi Matondo.

“So if the only wide players that you’ve got could be ready to move on then you will need to bring in more of them.”

When fit, Matondo is one of the more exciting members of this current Rangers squad as he can turn a match on its head in a single action, whether that be a mazy dribble or a wondergoal like the one against Celtic.

But he hasn’t been available often enough under Clement this season and that could well mean that the Gers would be willing to cash on him, if the right offer was made this summer, particularly with other targets in mind.

Clement won’t be rushing the 23-year-old out of the door and he certainly won’t be pushing him towards another club, but he may well be willing to negotiate a fee to help fund his big summer rebuild.

This could be one to keep an eye on between now and the end of the summer window. Until it slams shut, anyone and everyone in this current squad could well be available for the right price.
