Despite the fact that Willian Jose’s departure has opened up a space in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad, it’s unlikely that Borja Iglesias will remain with Real Betis for the 2024-25 campaign. The 31-year-old was loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen for the second half of last season, and it’s almost certain that he will depart again this summer.
Celta Vigo want him to replace Jorgen Strand Larsen, who joined Wolves earlier this month, and while talks had been going well in that operation, it now looks to have lost some traction. That’s because Stuttgart have entered the made to sign Iglesias, as reported by Diario AS.
Stuttgart finished second in last season’s Bundesliga, so they will be playing in the Champions League. This is sure to be a big incentive for Iglesias to make the move, and it’s also noted that he felt comfortable in Germany when he was at Leverkusen.
