Two-time Spanish La Liga Champions, Real Sociedad, have picked interest in Nigeria-eligible forward, Samu Omorodion, as they prepare for Umar Sadiq’s exit, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 20-year-old was linked to Chelsea, and already had his medical done ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge, only for the deal to collapse in the last minutes, as the Blues pulled the plug on the transfer, allowing the striker to return to his parent club, Atletico Madrid.
Despite the collapse, the young Spaniard is still one of the most sought-after propects in the transfer window. As per Spanish outlet, Relevo, Real Sociedad are searching for another striker, and have picked interest in the striker who spent last season at Deportivo Alavés, scoring eigth goals in 35 games.
The txuri-urdin are waiting to sort the future of Nigerian striker, Umar Sadiq, and Carlos Fernández, with the pair hungry for playing time.
Sadiq has had a torrid time at San Sebastian since joining from Almeria, sufferering an ACL tear in his first season with the club, and has been unable to reach his prolific heights since then.
Alongside, Samu Omorodion, Sociedad are also working on the arrival of former Real Madrid striker, Borja Mayoral, and it is believed that the transfers are planned seperately.
However, Imanol Alguacil’s side face stiff competition from other clubs, as Atletico Madrid are in talks with Juventus and Napoli over Omorodion’s future.
Atlético de Madrid are currently stuck, and need to make sales to fund Conor Gallagher’s transfer. They planned seperate talks for Portuguese midfielder, Joao Felix, who was meant to head to Stamford Bridge, but Atletico demanded for a fee Chelsea deemed too much.
It is clear that Atlético de Madrid will not rule out Omorodion’s exit as they already have Julián Alvarez, and Alexander Sorloth as attacking options up front.
