According to a recent report, Liverpool remain in the race to sign one of the best midfielders in the world.
The Merseysiders will be eager to push on and challenge for the Premier League title this season after a year of progress under a new look squad.
Arne Slot has taken the reigns from Jurgen Klopp and will be eager to make his own imprint in the summer transfer window.
With that said, he’s still keen on signing his compatriot who has starred at Euro 2024.
Liverpool have not given up on signing Teun Koopmeiners
According to Tutto Juve, Liverpool have not given up on signing Netherlands and Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners despite Juventus leading the race.
Atalanta don’t want to sell the 26-year-old to a direct rival so it’s thought their preference would be to do business with The Reds.
Slot’s side are said to be making a ‘strong comeback’ in the race and it seems as though they’re now a serious suitor.
Koopmeiners, who has been labelled as ‘world class’ by TV commentator Matteo Bonetti, is currently away in Germany at the European Championships, so any forthcoming deal will likely be completed after the tournament.
Liverpool fans will get a closer look at their rumoured target on Wednesday when England face the Netherlands in the semi-finals.

As well as Koopmeiners, Liverpool also need to target a defensive midfielder as they look to assemble a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title.
Endo enjoyed a productive season in that role following Fabinho’s departure but he’ll need support with Champions League football returning.
Atalanta’s Ederson has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield but they face competition from Chelsea for the Brazil international.
