Report shares how many matches Rangers could play at Hampden Park

Rangers will play up to five games at Hampden Park at the start of next season due to delayed building work at Ibrox, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper reported on Wednesday (10 July) that a deal between Rangers and the SFA is on the verge of completion and expected to be announced within days.

The Light Blues are being forced to play away from Ibrox after shipping issues delayed work on the Copland Road Stand.

Rangers to play five matches at Hampden Park as deal close

Following last season’s disappointment of missing out on the Scottish Premiership title to Old Firm rivals Celtic, this whole saga is certainly not ideal for anyone at Ibrox.

Philippe Clement and his team are currently away on a pre-season tour, having opened their account with a 0-0 draw against Standard Liege on Wednesday 10 July.

While the Gers will open the season with an away match against Hearts, the next two games are at home against Motherwell and Ross County, though they will not be played at Ibrox.

The team is set to arrive back in Glasgow with problems still being solved at the stadium, with a move to Hampden Park moving ever closer.

Of course, moving to the national team’s stadium is not the worst outcome, but fans would have been desperate to get back to their beloved Ibrox for the 2024/25 campaign.
