Norwich City are reluctant to sell Kenny McLean this summer amid interest from Rangers who are yet to make an official offer, according to Football Scotland.
The outlet reported (8 July) that the Gers have not yet tabled an official bid to the Championship side for the Scotland international.
New Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup is in “no rush” to sell the midfielder who has been a “virtual ever-present” for the Canaries, the report stated.
The 32-year-old is said to be a “lifelong fan” of the Gers and, as a result, could be keen on a summer move to Ibrox.
Rangers yet to bid for Kenny McLean
Philippe Clement and his recruitment team have been busy reading a squad capable of challenging Celtic for supremacy in Scotland next season.
Despite an initial upturn in fortunes under the Belgian last term, Rangers tailed off and were beaten to both the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup by their Old Firm rivals last season.
Clement has already moved quickly in the transfer market to reinforcement his squad but there has been a focus on younger talent so far and a few more experienced heads wouldn’t go amiss.
Especially given there has also been plenty of departures with the likes of Borna Barisic and John Lundstram departing on free transfers this summer.
Connor Barron has come in as a midfield option and McLean could be an ideal option to play alongside the youngster next season.
The Norwich man would bring plenty of experience to Ibrox having played in Scotland before while having featured in the Premier League recently.
If they want to sign him then Rangers will have to table a bid first to gauge where the Canaries are in terms of a price tag for the 32-year-old.
