Revealed: Man City 'doing everything' to agree extension with star man

Man City will “do everything they can” to tie Kevin De Bruyne down to a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.

De Bruyne, 33, is currently out of contract at the end of the 2024-25 campaign – putting him in the box seat in discussions.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (30 September) that the playmaker’s new injury will have no bearing on negotiations.

Sources say the injury is not “serious” and is not sparking fears about his long-term durability.

Talks are planned with De Bruyne over extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium to over 10 years, with a solution expected to come before the end of 2024.

The Belgium international is highly coveted in Saudi Arabia, with Middle Eastern clubs already prising several stars away from City in recent windows.

Football Insider revealed in October 2023 that Saudi clubs were planning to offer Man City superstar De Bruyne a huge salary package to join the footballing project.

The 33-year-old has made six appearances this term, notching one goal and one assist.

De Bruyne, formerly of Wolfsburg and Chelsea, signed his last contract extension in April 2021.

He has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and one Champions League trophy during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
