Richard Keys has urged Tottenham supporters to stick with Ange Postecoglou after booing the side off against Fulham on Sunday.
Brennan Johnson finally opened the scoring after 54 minutes of an even affair in North London, only for Tom Cairney to equaliser just 13 minutes later with a fine strike.
Spurs are sitting seventh in the Premier League after 13 matches, frustrated by the lack of consistency shown by the players, but they are only three points off the top four spots.
Writing via his personal blog [2 December], Keys wrote: “Spurs fans have got to cut big Ange a bit of slack. I love watching his team play.
“Spurs’ fans weren’t happy watching their side drop points against Fulham and actually booed them off – but what do they want? Yes, Spurs can be frustrating at the same time as being entertaining, but they’re good value.
“Tottenham have tried everything during the PL years and nothing has worked so why not give Postecoglou backing until he runs out of steam? My advice is to give Postecoglou time and support.”
Ange Postecoglou under pressure at Tottenham?
The frustrations surrounding Postecoglou are nothing more than exactly that. Spurs can pick up unexpected wins, such as their 4-0 result against Manchester City, having just lost to Ipswich Town.
Postecoglou has more than enough talent in the squad to charge up the Premier League table, and even challenge in the Europa League if more consistency can be found this season.
Defeats to Brighton, Crystal Palace, Galatasaray and Ipswich could have all been avoided, and even the recent 2-2 draw with AS Roma should have been all three points. Mats Hummels had other ideas.
Now, supporters are growing tireless after throwing away two points once again, this time against the Cottagers, and it is easy to see why some are overreacting about the manager.
There are so many signs of things to come from Postecoglou and this team, and while many will feel that he should be further along by now, he needs the trust and support as he attempts to stabilise the ship.
In other Tottenham news, Clinton Morrison reacted to a controversial moment as Spurs drew 1-1 against Fulham.
