'Secret': Fabrizio Romano shares 'behind the scenes' transfer claim out of Tottenham as Solanke deal nears

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer has just taken a huge boost over the last hours as they have landed signing number four.

Ange Postecoglou has been made to wait until around a week before Tottenham kick off their 2024/25 campaign but it seems Spurs finally have a new striker.

Dominic Solanke is now believed to have signed his contract at Tottenham following his big money move from Bournemouth.

It is expected the deal will be worth in the region of £55m with the possibility for a further £10m to land on the south coast in add-ons.

It has been a long wait for Tottenham fans to see Spurs bring in a striker to try and fill the void which has been left behind by Harry Kane last summer, but it now looks hours away from being announced.

Tottenham have now brought in four players this summer in what has been Johan Lange’s first summer at the helm of the club’s recruitment.

Tottenham working in ‘secret’ to land summer target at Hotspur Way

Although it has been an impressive summer on the pitch for Spurs, there has been one major issue in Richarlison’s fitness concerns.

The Brazilian has only just returned to training having watched the five pre-season friendlies from the sidelines.

To Richarlison’s defence, Spurs did not have another senior striker to rotate him with but his injuries have been a real issue.

But Spurs fans are now about to see their new striker land with Tottenham expected to announce Solanke in front of the fans later today in the friendly against Bayern Munich.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham were working in secret in their negotiations to land Solanke over recent days.

“The truth is, things were happening behind the scenes because Tottenham were working in a secret way to get Dominic Solanke,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“And the deal today [Friday], is done. So exclusive story confirmed, Dominic Solanke is the new striker for Spurs. Ange Postecoglou will have his new striker, the deal is done.”

Tottenham now need to sign a right winger after Dominic Solanke

Quickly following on from the news of the agreement for Solanke, it was revealed Chelsea had agreed to sign Tottenham target Pedro Neto from Wolves.

This will have been a blow to the Lilywhites with Tottenham having offered Wolves Oliver Skipp plus cash for Neto.

Spurs still have quality options on the right wing with the likes of Brennan Johnson, but the Wales international must improve his output this season if Spurs do not add another option before the deadline.

Johnson had a solid first season at Spurs returning five goals and 10 assists, but there was so many more goals out there for him to get.

The 23-year-old missed more big chances (17) than any other Spurs player last season which could well be the reason Spurs may add to that department.
