Shola Shoretire set to join up with Super Eagles captain in Greece after leaving Manchester United

Nigeria-eligible English midfielder, Shola Maxwell Shoretire, is set to become teammates with Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder with three English Premier League appearances and a UEFA Europa League game under his belt has taken the bold step to leave the shores of England to join a club abroad.
Shoretire signed his first professional contract with Manchester United three years ago, and whilst talks of a renewal were ongoing a few months back, it appears the youngster was keen on finding his feet with a new club, and became a free agent as soon as the transfer window opened.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Greek Super League Champions, PAOK Thessaloniki, have reached a verbal agreement with the Nigeria-eligible midfielder.

As per Gazzetta Greece, The 20-year-old English midfielder is expected to be in Thessaloniki tonight to complete his transfer to PAOK. The move will see him team up with the AFCON 2023 Player of the Tournament, William Troost-Ekong.

Born in Newcastle to a Nigerian father and an English mother, Shoretire came through the ranks at Manchester United, joining in 2013 after brief stints with Sunderland and Newcastle. He has represented England at youth level, but the door for a switch to the Nigerian team is wide open.
PAOK will be in the Champions League qualifiers this summer, with the hopes of playing in the Champions League high, Shoretire might have the experience the Manchester United team won’t taste for at least a year with the Greek side.
In Manchester United, Shoretire became the club’s youngest-ever player to feature in a European Competition, coming on for Mason Greenwood in their goalless draw against Real Sociedad in 2021. He achieved the feat at the age of 17 years and 23 days under the tenure of Ole Gunnar-Solksjaer.
His move to PAOK will see him become teammates with ex-Premier League players like Willian Troost-Ekong, Jonny Otto, Abdul-Rahman Baba and Mbwana Samatta who are well-experienced.
