Simon Jordan says 'phenomenal' Mikel Arteta favourite could now be questioning his Arsenal future

Arsenal enjoyed a fruitful summer on the transfer front, making several exciting signings and offloading a number of players surplus to requirements.

Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino, Neto and Raheem Sterling have all joined the Gunners ranks over the summer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have sold the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale, while others, like Reiss Nelson, have been loaned out.

Although Arsenal’s transfer business hasn’t been unanimously lauded – some feel a new No. 9 should have come in – they’ve done well for the most part.

However, Simon Jordan has now questioned whether one signing in particular could have caused one of Mikel Arteta’s favourites to question his future.

Simon Jordan worries Leandro Trossard could be considering his Arsenal future

The player in question is Leandro Trossard, who has been an impressive squad option for Arsenal over the years.

Arteta clearly rates him highly, deeming him a “little magician” earlier this year (TNT Sports) and resisting approaches from the Saudi Pro League this summer.

However, Trossard has reportedly expressed his frustration over not being a regular starter, so it remains to be seen how things develop in the coming months.

Jordan, speaking on talkSPORT, admits he “scratched his head” at the Sterling to Arsenal deal, as he feels it could cause discontent in the dressing room.

“This deal for Sterling to go to Arsenal, I sort of scratched my head at it,” said Jordan.

I don’t know what you (Souness and Deeney) think because there are players inside that dressing room like Trossard that will look at it and go, I mean, ‘hang on a second, I can’t get in the team and you are bringing another player in’.

“He is not going to take Saka’s place, is he?”

Arteta must tread carefully over Trossard role in Arsenal setup

Although Arteta has overseen an impressive – and swift – rise in quality at Arsenal, his approach does have a tendency to leave some discontent in its wake.

For instance, Ramsdale wasted nearly a whole year of his career, despite doing nothing wrong, simply because Arteta fancied another option in goal.

Admittedly, the signing of Sterling was an opportunity that Arsenal simply could not pass up. He is an incredible player and will strengthen the Gunners ranks.

However, it remains to be seen whether Sterling will be elevated above Trossard in the pecking order.

If so, there’s a risk that the “phenomenal” Trossard – as Martin Keown once deemed him – could consider his future in January.
