Sky Sports journo: Rangers star capable of the 'Ridiculous' can be Clement game-changer

Dan Bardell believes Ianis Hagi has summed up his Rangers career after assisting and being sent off on his Ibrox return v St Johnstone.

The Romania international hadn’t played for the Gers since August 2023 but was reintegrated into Philippe Clement’s side ahead of the clash with Lyon [Joshua Barrie, 1 October].

The 25-year-old made his return in a 36-minute cameo in the Scottish Premiership against the Saints on Sunday 6 October and registered an assist before receiving his marching orders.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks this sums up his spell at Ibrox where he has failed to truly impress since signing in 2020.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “It probably sums him up to a tee really.

“He is capable of the sublime and the ridiculous.

“A player who is capable of so much and a player that really should be a game changer for Rangers but is so often on the periphery.“

It was so nearly a dream return in Light Blue for Hagi as he grabbed an assist for Vaclav Cerny’s second goal after coming off the bench.

There was a lot to like about the Romanian’s showing which certainly added a new dimension to Clement’s side while he was on the pitch.

This didn’t last very long as he was forced off with eight minutes left on the clock after a poor challenge and a VAR check.

After making his return, the attacking midfielder will now miss multiple games which could stunt any progress made at Ibrox in recent weeks.
