'Slightly worried' - Sutton predicts result of Everton clash v Crystal Palace in Dyche verdict

Everton and Sean Dyche’s wait for a Premier League win will continue against Crystal Palace on Saturday 28 September, according to Chris Sutton.

The BBC Sport pundit doesn’t think the Toffees will be able to build open their draw against Leicester City last time out, predicting that the Blues will claim a point at Goodison Park in a 1-1 stalemate.

Although Sutton hasn’t been impressed by Palace’s form under Oliver Glasner so far this season, he doesn’t think that Dyche’s side will be able to keep a clean sheet and keep the Eagles at bay.

Writing for BBC Sport on Thursday (26 September) he said: “Crystal Palace are a very capable side on their day, but they have not been playing well enough recently.

“Everton boss Sean Dyche definitely needs a good result, and I am slightly worried about the atmosphere at Goodison Park if it turns ugly for whatever reason, and how the players handle that.

“I keep going for Everton home wins, and being wrong, so I am not making that mistake again. They keep taking the lead but it feels like they need to get Jarrad Branthwaite fit again if they are going to hold out.

“I actually fancy Everton here but without Branthwaite at the back I am not so sure they have got a clean sheet in them and, on that basis, I am going to say Palace will get a point.”

Will Everton sack Sean Dyche amid Goodison Park developments?

For the first time in a long time, there is a positive feeling in and around Goodison Park heading into a matchday. The announcement that the Friedkin Group have agreed a takeover has lifted fans’ spirits on the blue half of Merseyside.

The question is, will Dyche and his side be able to ensure that supporters leave Goodison just as happy after 90 minutes of action against the Eagles, or will it be another disappointing afternoon for the Toffees?

Although Branthwaite has been a massive miss for the Blues as Sutton suggested, Dyche did confirm that the England international will be fit to feature on Saturday which will boost the Toffees’ hopes of claiming all three points.

If the 22-year-old slots back into the back four alongside James Tarkowski, Everton will have a much better chance of keeping Palace at arm’s length and earning a first league clean sheet of the season.

Hopefully, Dyche’s side will manage to go one better than Sutton’s prediction and finally pick up that first win of the campaign.
