Source close to Everton takeover deal shares new Moshiri update today - report

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is “imminently” expected to grant Dan Friedkin’s group exclusivity to complete their takeover of the club, according to the i.

The i reported (18 June) that a source close to the ongoing discussions revealed that the Friedkin Group will be given the exclusivity period needed to thrash out the terms of their deal to assume control at Goodison Park.

Friedkin’s son Ryan is reportedly leading the charge to conclude the negotiations surrounding the Texan’s buyout of Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent shareholding, which if successful will see the Toffees become the group’s third club, alongside Serie A side Roma and Cannes in France.

Moshiri granting the Friedkin Group an exclusivity period is a huge step forward in the Iranian’s attempts to sell the club, having previously been locked in a share purchase agreement with the unsuccessful 777 Partners for nine months [Gazzetta dello Sport].

Dan Friedkin takeover is light at the end of the tunnel for Everton

Toffes fans might just be celebrating in the streets if and when Moshiri finally sells up to end his association with the Toffees.

Arguably the biggest frustration from a Blues perspective is the fact that after a nine-month stalemate, Friedkin could swoop in and complete his takeover within a month of 777 Partners’ own deal expiring [Paul Brown].

Signing a share purchase agreement with 777 in September 2023, Moshiri’s continued faith in a group which never looked likely to pass Premier League owners and directors’ tests was the final straw for many Toffees fans.

Farhad Moshiri’s reign at Everton finally looks to be coming to an end.

The fact that a whole host of more credible bidders emerged just days after the deadline on 777’s agreement on May 31 passed, suggests that had Moshiri shown better judgement and leadership, the club could have been steered in a new direction months ago [Stefan Borson].

However, that long impasse finally looks to be heading for a satisfying conclusion for Blues fans, with Friedkin bringing several attributes 777 never could: most notably, credible proof that they have what it takes to effectively and successfully run one of football’s sleeping giants.

In other Everton news, the club are readying to sign Juventus ace Arthur Melo as a Daniel Friedkin update emerges at Goodison Park.
