Everton have watched Boca Juniors winger Kevin Zenon in the last six months, according to TBR Football.
The journalist reported via its website on Monday (21 October) that the South American club expect to lose the 23-year-old during the transfer window, amid interest from a host of European teams.
Liverpool, Newcastle United, Tottenham, Manchester United, Napoli and Atletico Madrid have all joined the Toffees in holding an interest in the winger who is understood to have a £13million release clause in his contract.
Will Everton complete any new transfers in January amid takeover updates at Goodison Park?
While it is going to take a lot for the Toffees to win the race for the Argentinean winger in the new year, it is good to see that the Blues are looking far and wide as they begin to prepare for the January transfer window.
Sean Dyche’s side have looked slightly short of depth out wide so far this term. There has been a reliance on the likes of Jesper Lindstrom, Jack Harrison and Iliman Ndiaye, particularly now that Dwight McNeil has been moved into a more central role.
Although the Blues would ideally like to sign a winger with more Premier League experience than Zenon, the young left-footed gem could offer a very different dimension to Dyche’s attack that would be a welcome boost.
Everton might not be able to spend loads of money in January, even if the Friedkin Group’s takeover is completed as expected, with PSR limiting the amount of money the new owners are able to immediately invest at Goodison Park.
But if Zenon does genuinely have a £13million release clause in his contract, that might be more within the Blues’ ballpark. Whether they can get the deal done before the likes of Liverpool and United will be the other question.
In other Everton news, one Ipswich Town player has been slammed for a “shambolic” moment in the clash with the Toffees.
