Spotted: Rangers fans protest with Hampden banner v Motherwell - Four Lads

Rangers fans displayed a banner calling for the exit of the Park family and members of the Ibrox board during the 2-1 win over Motherwell on Sunday.

Four Lads Had a Dream posted on X (3 November) during the first half of the Scottish League Cup semi-final clash at Hampden Park, showing a banner held up by fans behind the goal.

Andy Halliday’s goal had already given Motherwell a 1-0 lead by the time the banners were spotted, with a simple six-word slogan reading: “Park and Co. Time to go.”

While Douglas still remains a significant investor at Ibrox, his son, Graeme is a non-executive director for the club.

Time running out for Rangers board to turn things around at Ibrox

It’s certainly not the first time that the Gers faithful have expressed their dissatisfaction with the Ibrox boardroom this season, and with no signs of immediate change incoming, it won’t be the last either.

Park is still one of the most recognisable names, with Douglas chairman between 2020 and 2023, but it’s arguable that at present, it’s difficult to say who exactly is ruling the roost at Ibrox.

That’s largely because the actions – or inactions – of the hierarchy in recent months have displayed no leadership whatsoever, with vacancies aplenty in key positions and public spats between directors.

Philippe Clement has become a lightning rod for criticism thanks to the incompetence of those above him, and although the Belgian is responsible for things on the pitch, he hasn’t been helped off it in the slightest.

Rangers are a club in dire need of change from the top down, more so than the bottom up, and although talk of outside investment has been rubbished [Dave King, 27 August], fans won’t stomach the current malaise for much longer.

In other Rangers news, Barry Ferguson has warned Gers fans who want Philippe Clement sacked after past mistakes.
