Everton prospective owner Dan Friedkin has made an “odd” decision as senior members of staff are expected to have to re-apply for their jobs.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider those decisions should be made by the new chief executive once they are in place at Goodison Park.
The Sun reported on 16 November Everton’s incoming US owners will “shock several backroom staff by making them re-apply for their jobs”.
It is claimed sporting director Kevin Thelwell and senior Goodison scouts are set to go through the process.
Football Insider revealed on 18 November Everton boss Sean Dyche will face intense sack scrutiny over the Christmas period with a daunting run of fixtures lined up.
The Merseysiders face Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in the run-up to Boxing Day, with the club currently just two points above the relegation zone.
Everton new chief executive should be making personnel decisions
“Making general staff re-apply for their jobs seems like an odd first move,” Borson told Football Insider.
“It particularly feels like an odd first move while you don’t have a chief executive in place.
“That feels like something that the chief executive would be deciding on day one, as opposed to the new owner awaiting the new executive.
“I think one of the first things the new executive would want to do is to have a look around, kick the tyres and understand the quality of the people in the organisation.
“There are two aspects. In summary, I would think Friedkin must be quite close just because some of the actions being taken, but maybe take that story with a pinch of salt.
“It doesn’t sound quite right, but it’s very quiet on the Everton side at the moment given everything that is going on in terms of the capitalisation case, the change of ownership, the approvals that are being waited for and the funding of the organisation.”
