Suggestions have emerged that Rangers could be set to sell Scott Wright to Sheffield Wednesday shortly, according to The Sun.

The newspaper has reported via their website (7 July) that the 26-year-old “could be on his way out” of Ibrox this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday are the most interested party and there have been suggestions that a deal is now close to going through.

That is despite Wednesday manager Danny Rohl refusing to comment on any potential move for the Scotsman after a recent pre-season friendly.

Philippe Clement isn’t messing around this summer. The Belgian wants to build his Rangers squad in his image ahead of the new season.

There have been plenty of departures from Ibrox already with the likes of John Lundstram and Borna Barisic leaving on free transfers.

The Light Blues have contrasted this with some additions with the latest being Hamza Igamane joining from FAR Rabat.

Despite being keen to build a squad, Clement also wants to sell on any potential deadwood this summer who aren’t necessarily needed.

Wright could fall into that category after featuring across just 712 minutes in the Scottish Premiership last season where he scored two and didn’t pick up an assist [FotMob].

The Gers do have positive options on the flanks with Ross McCausland and Rabbi Matondo featuring regularly towards the end of the season.

With that being said, Fabio Silva was a consistent player in Clement’s starting XI’s and the Portuguese attacker has now returned to Wolves.

Now the Light Blues may look to bring some new players in to play on the wings, especially if Wright gets his move to Sheffield Wednesday.

In other Rangers news, a player decided to seal an Ibrox exit this summer the moment he found out a British club wanted to sign him.
