'What we want...' - Manager responds when asked if he wants to sign Rangers first-team player

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has responded amid links to Rangers attacker Scott Wright this summer.

The EFL Championship side have ramped up their interest in the past few days to sign the 26-year-old, per the Daily Record on 6 July.

In a recent interview with BBC Sheffield’s Rob Staton, Rohl refused to be dragged into confirming his side’s interest but neither did he rule out the story.

He said: “I will not speak about names because it makes no sense. This market goes so quick. We have an idea what we want to have, I have an idea of how I want to play in the new season.

“We know what we have to improve when we look back from last season and then it’s about finding the right pieces to make our squad stronger and stronger because we are very ambitious for the new season.”

Rohl’s response to the Wright transfer reports suggests that Sheffield Wednesday are indeed interested in signing the Gers attacker.

The manager’s refusal to deny the rumours and his statement about the club’s ambitions for the new season indicate that the Owls are actively pursuing the 26-year-old.

By not ruling out the story, Rohl is keeping his options open and avoiding giving a definitive answer that could potentially hinder negotiations.

Given the intensified interest from Sheffield Wednesday in recent days and the manager’s cautious response, the Ibrox can expect a bid from the Championship club soon.

The Owls are likely preparing an offer that they believe will be suitable for both the player and Gers and it’s important that the latter do not reduce their valuation.

As negotiations progress, Sheffield Wednesday will aim to secure Wright’s signature before the transfer window closes.

In other Rangers news, a player decided to seal an Ibrox exit this summer the moment he found out a British club wanted to sign him.
