'Time to move on' - Dan Bardell moots Tottenham exit after transfer announcement

Dan Bardell believes that the signing of Archie Gray could see Tottenham sell Pierre-Emile Hojberg amid transfer interest.

A report from Florian Plettenberg (2 July) has suggested that the Denmark international is a midfield option for Borussia Dortmund this summer.

This interest has arisen after Spurs confirmed the signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United in a deal worth up to £30million [BBC Sport].

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that Tottenham could part ways with Hojbjerg in a move to benefit both parties.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “I think it could be time to move on for Hojbjerg and for Tottenham.

“He’s never going to be first choice under Postecoglou, he doesn’t think that Hojberg can do what he needs from a midfielder.

“He hasn’t been a bad signing, in fact, I’d say he’s been good there. With Archie Gray coming in now, it could be time for player and club to part ways this summer.“

Tottenham are looking to build a squad as they prepare for a return to European football with Ange Postecoglou in charge.

This could spell the end for Hojbjerg who will have fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham thanks to them signing Gray.

With interest coming from Champions League finalists, Dortmund, the Denmark star may feel that he can feature regularly for a top team next season.

Postecoglou may want to replace the 28-year-old this summer before replacing him but other midfield options are positive ahead of the new season.
