Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg might have given Ange Postecoglou something to think about after his standout performance at Euro 2024.

Hojbjerg was named Player of the Match in Denmark’s 1-1 group stage draw against England and has impressed throughout the tournament.

In his 79th game for Denmark against Gareth Southgate’s side, Hojbjerg showed why he’s so important to his national team and why it might be worth keeping him around in North London.

He controlled the midfield against England, who are now in the semi-final of the tournament.

His stats for the clash were also impressive [UEFA]: he had the ball 7.4 per cent of the time, more than any other player, and completed 83 passes, also the most in the game.

He was strong defensively, attempting nine tackles and succeeding in six of them, and making three interceptions – again, the best numbers on the pitch.

Offensively, he took six shots, with four on target, more than anyone else.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could still be very useful for Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou

These impressive stats might make Postecoglou reconsider Hojbjerg’s role and future at Tottenham.

Since Postecoglou became the manager, Hojbjerg has lost his starting spot to Yves Bissouma, despite being a key player under previous managers Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Last season, Hojbjerg played in 36 of Tottenham’s 38 Premier League games but started only eight.

Hojbjerg’s contract is up next summer and he has already been linked with a move away, with clubs like Atletico Madrid interested in his services [Daily Mail].

The midfielder joined Tottenham in August 2020 for £15million from Southampton. While he’s known for his defensive skills, he has also scored some important goals for Spurs in the Premier League and Champions League.

His overall performance at Euro 2024 was strong, playing 353 minutes in four matches with a 90.5 per cent passing accuracy and reaching a top speed of 32.21 km/h.

These performances might just make Tottenham and Ange rethink their plans and see Hojbjerg as an important part of their future again.

In other Tottenham news, a Yves Bissouma exit verdict has emerged after an official club announcement.
