Van Nistelrooy to land 'top job' after source's reveal - Man United Insider

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been tipped to land a “top” managerial position after his successful interim spell as Man United manager.

Former United chief scout Mick Brown, who was instrumental in bringing the former striker to Old Trafford and remains well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that he has “all the right attributes” to become a top boss in the future.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 18 November that Van Nistelrooy is under consideration for the managerial position at Coventry, following Mark Robins’ departure.

The Dutchman picked up the mantle after Erik ten Hag was sacked by Man United and led the team to three wins and one draw in his four games in charge.

Those victories included comfortable scorelines against Leicester in the League Cup, PAOK in the Europa League, and Leicester again in the Premier League, and an impressive 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

As a result of those results and performances, multiple teams are said to have taken notice of his abilities and will consider him among candidates in the future.

He also has previous experience in a top job in Europe, having led PSV Eindhoven to win the 2022 Johan Cruyff Shield and the 2022-23 KNVB Cup before resigning from the position.

Reports have claimed the boss is now keen to remain in management after his short spell in charge of United and is prepared to entertain talks over available roles.

Brown, who spent over a decade at Man United during their most successful period and has a wealth of experience working closely with top managers including Sir Alex Ferguson, insisted that Van Nistelrooy is well-positioned to land a top job.

“Yeah, I think he’ll get another job in management,” he told Football Insider.

“I know Ruud well, he’s a tremendous bloke and that’s one of the reasons we brought him in.

“At the time, I never would’ve thought he’d go into coaching or management, but he’s proving now he has all the right attributes to be successful.

“From knowing him as a person and as a player, I’d back him to continue that success.

“He’s already got a good CV after the work he did in Holland with PSV, and then he’s added to that with the spell at Man United.

“In terms of the Coventry job, I think that would be a great club for him.

“But if they end up going with somebody else like Frank Lampard, as I’ve heard, he might even look at some jobs in the Premier League.

“I’d bet a lot of clubs have taken notice of him after what he did with United.

“There aren’t a lot of jobs going at the moment, but if he continues to learn and improve then I’m sure he’ll land himself a top job before too long.”
